1 Million Dollar Update!

Here's an update on where we are at on the 1 Million Dollars... luckily no one has attempted to give anything less than 1 Million Dollars!  And... I haven't had to compromise my morals or values in any way thus far.  In fact, it's as if no one has even read this blog!  Hellooooo!  Is this thing on?!

Lyric Book Co. had been promoting the new Gary Kemp Lyric Book by giving away 10 hand signed copies to those who were able to inspire them by tweeting their favorite Spandau Ballet Lyrics, I too gave it my best shot!  Sorry... no prize this time.  I had to break down and purchase both books for my personal library, they will retire right next to my hand signed copy of "To Cut A Long Story Short" by Tony Hadley (Lead Singer).  Of which I had the pleasure of seeing live in person at the House of Blues in Los Angeles last year .  I even got into the shot, just to the left of Tony's mic stand of this facebook photo.

Moving right along... Spandau Ballet had a huge influence on the English & American youth of the 80's.  Obviously I was and still am a huge fan of them.  Wish them well in all that they do, however, they really don't need my well wishes, for they are Spandau Ballet, musicians, writers, brewery owners, parents and the list goes on.

Chicago Teen Hadiya Pendleton Gunned Down

It seems that these sad events are taking place everyday, several times a day on average.
I do t want to force my viewpoints on anyone, I write this blog simply to voice my thoughts on our twisted world.

There is a very simple answer, outlaw the guns and arrest anyone with one on them.  These gun activists keep throwing around their need for a gun as if it were their God given right.  The right to bare arms was given to those who lived in very different times!  At a time when most had a very different respect for life in general, killers were hung!  We are now living in times where there is very little respect for human life by many sick individuals as well as groups.  So please don't try to argue a right to have a weapon, as if you will suddenly need it to protect your family against the government, police or a criminal.  That's ridiculous!

If you believe the latter, then, you are watching too many action/suspense films people!  It most likely will NEVER happen to you, unless we continue to allow these guns, which have no place in a civilized world.  So, to justify these recent losses we have had over the past few years, that have seem to become more prevalent with each day's passing, by saying it's your RIGHT TO BARE ARMS!

What I hear you saying is "you really don't care if this were your family member taken by a gun".  You are effectively saying "US citizens should have a RIGHT TO BARE ARMS regardless of these events, even though it was your daughter, your mother, your sister, your wife."

At least you get to keep your death toys right?!

If it were illegal to have a gun period... then, I imagine you would get a harsh sentence if caught with one in your possession.  I believe if our police were enabled by our justice system to do their job effectively and search those who look suspicious, and thus find a gun on them, and as a result lock them away for ever.  Then, I promise this sort of situation would become scarce.  Those with guns on them in public places usually haven't any good intentions behind carrying a gun in public.  Maybe that's the key law that should be passed?  No gun on you in a public place, that way you can still keep your gun at home and this would enable police to arrest those walking around town toting a gun with them!  We really have no reasonable excuse for carrying guns around in this day and age, other than to inflict great bodily injury upon another.  Anyone that feels they need to pack a gun on them is a coward in my eyes any way you look at it.  Now I know there will be hundreds of selfish individuals out there arguing my beliefs... it's okay, I understand you like your guns.

Here's another viewpoint I heard on talk radio 590 & 640, both seem to be buzzing about this topic as are most news stations, since so many shootings which are taking place on a daily place now.  There was a politician who said something to the effect that we are basing our US rights on a antique notion that our forefathers who existed over two centuries ago and lived in very different times, in basically a completely different world and of course a different "America".

Is it right to continue to uphold the very same constitution without revision?  We have completely unique circumstances and live with a completely different set of life situations here, in this day and age, which have lead us up to this question... "Should we have the right to bare arms"?  I personally have never felt the need to carry a gun.  I do not fear death.  If someone wants to take your life bad enough, they will find a way regardless of gun access, however, that doesn't mean we should allow them the easiest way to take a life.  Or does it?

A Letter To Craig Rowin... Please Give Me One Million Dollars! Thank You!

Hi Craig,

Nice!  Way to go!  Kudos!  I have tried everything in life to obtain a million dollars!  (Except unmentionable relations with another man) and this!  Not that relations with another man is something that you should be ashamed of, there's nothing wrong with being who you are.  It's just not for me.

I’ve worked a paper route at age 7, which by the way, never got me anything other than some points in a catalog to trade for a craftsman drill and router set.  Then, at age 14.5, I decided to make my millions working for a small print shop in Fontana, CA as a journeyman/janitor… do I have to tell you how that worked out for me???

From there I moved on to The Wherehouse Entertainment, and had felt that surely, I would make a million as a sales clerk selling CD’s and renting VHS Tapes out to customers for 5.5 years!  Right?!  Ahhhh… ... ... Wrong!

I eventually got a job at PepBoys Automotive where I would continue to trade my sanity and sense of self for a twitching eye and guaranteed heart attack for the next7.5 years, needless to say… I spent the next 8 months thereafter, out of work and collecting EDD (California Worker’s Unemployment Benefits) as a result of my inevitable termination for a “Quality Assurance” issue.  (Didn't write down a license plate and VIN number prior to taking in a vehicle a customer brought to me).

Yeah, those were the days!  Good times!  Good times!  Open @ 6 am, close at 6 pm!  And… on a good day, take in and turn out somewhere around 50-100 vehicles for misc. services, all while; answering phones, calculating vehicle estimates, retrieving parts, and writing up new customers as they walk in, don’t get me wrong, there were days I would actually get a lunch break.  Yeah… I eventually got a break!  Ball Plastic Container was hiring “palletizers” this was a great job!  Paid nearly $21 dollars an hour with overtime included!

Easy money right?... Woke up at 3:30am, drove 35miles one way, and for the next 7.5 years of 12-14 hour days, I was granted my lifelong wish of being able to run around on concrete slab, in a tin commercial building, with temperatures exceeding 110 degrees!  

I would chase alarms and whistles (jammed or down empty Pepsi bottles, in conveyors and or airveyors) all fun and games!  And just for kicks, the machine would knock over 3,500 20oz. bottles every now and then!  Which you could then proceed to chase around with an air hose, contorting into various shapes and sizes on the floor, in every attempt to corral and gather them efficiently into what we would call a “Gaylord” (Huge Cardboard Box 5X5X5) Just before the machine would knock over the next pallet!  

These days were my fondest!  I achieved a lingual hernia, ripped calf muscle and hung myself on the machine by my rib cage!  Yeah, mi vida loca!  Almost split my spleen on that one!  Thank God for MRI’s and Worker’s Comp.!

Then… Finally, I caught a break!  Sadly my grandfather passed away, he left my grandmother an empty boarded up commercial building with broken doors and rest room stalls, spiders and cockroaches!  Yeah, we had it all!  I convinced my grandmother to let me do something with that worthless shell of a facility!

I then spent the next 2 years, on my one day off, while still at Ball Plastic Container, physically laboring at both Ball Plastic Container as well as the vacant 7,200sq. ft. facility my grandmother was kind enough to allow me to renovate.  As I continued to methodically take on one obstacle at a time, one room at a time, I was able to eventually repair and clean it up enough to get a single tenant interested in it.  And then another and another and finally a few years later, it was fully leased.  

Then, right around the time life as we all had known it was about to end, say 2007.5, I got the wild idea to focus on obtaining a loan on my own home, so that I would be able to purchase another two rental homes at the bottom of the market prices in 2007-2008!  A year and a half later... mission accomplished!  I then had 2 rental homes, it was then the waiting game began…   Fast forward to 2013, still waiting for the real estate market to recover!

It seems to me the only thing that truly makes any sense whatsoever by this point in time, was to work hard throughout a lifetime and save whatever money you scrape together to then eventually place a down payment on more and more investment real estate and grow your debt/net worth until your eyeballs fall out!  That was the plan!  Until... the US Government crapped, er...ummm... I mean, capped how many loans an investor was allowed to have by law.  So, I was back at square one... I had supposed that by the time I was two to three hundred years old, I would be able to reap the benefits of my labor and financial suffering.  Until now!  

Now that I see how easy it is to get a $1,000,000!  And that YOU PERSONALLY HAVE ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!!! 

I figure I would simply ask YOU!  Being that you truly understand my situation, I feel that you will simply hand it right over, so here goes!

Craig Rowin, “Please, Give Me One Million Dollars”!  Please, pretty please?  I wrote an article for you on my blog here http://www.richardpeacock.blogspot.com/2013/01/ask-and-you-shall-receive-please-donate.html So, "Please Give Me Your One Million Dollars"!  Come on, I know you want to!  I think it would be fun to see you give away your initial "One Million Dollars"!  TO ME!!!  After all you probably invested it wisely and by now have ONE BILLION DOLLARS BY NOW!  Right?  And I know you are ALL ABOUT "Paying It Forward"!!! RIGHT?!

I have tried everything to make ONE MILLION DOLLARS!!!  I wrote and published my own book Symbols of Love , I taught myself how to play guitar, piano, and write songs Richard Peacock's Music  and I even started a nonprofit Symbols Of Love Organization, I had felt that everyone enjoys helping others and that if I could do this for a career, that I would simply be the happiest guy around!  And, knowing how helpful others are to one another, I had felt that they would surely donate MILLIONS to Symbols Of Love Organization!  Because people just care!

By now I would be making a living doing something I loved, and would continue to do good things for others through the organization!  So, as you can see… I am very worthy of a million dollars!  I really don’t have the talent or the time to do what you have done and create an entertaining video on YouTube asking for a Million Dollars, so, I figure I would do what I do best!  Write!  And of course go directly to the source where the coin is a plenty!  YOU!  Mr. Millionaire!

If you don’t find it in your heart to help me out with ONE MILLION US DOLLARS!  Then, maybe you can pass my information along to your Millionaire friend?  I would truly appreciate it!  And would be your dedicated lap dog for life!  If you have seemed to blow through your million as most do, I do understand, in that case, maybe you can have your millionaire friend donate his time and teach us both how to become a legitimate millionaire through the artful strategy and manipulation of parting human beings from their money, in whatever venue he has made his fortune?  I believe that information may be even more valuable than the money itself!!!  However, I still want the MONEY!

I would prefer to keep all the money and deposit it directly into my checking account, however, my PayPal account will accept money as well:  They will simply take somewhere around 2.9% plus $0.30 per transaction.  I believe that would equate to somewhere just under $30,000 dollars!  PayPal, you really know your stuff!  I wish I would have thought to start a pass through website that would take money and pass it along for a HUGE FEE!  Darn me anyway, stupid, stupid, stupid!

So Craig... Thank you for your money in advance!  Specifically $1,000,000.00 US DOLLARS!  (One Million US Dollars).

P.S. I am not partial to Craig's money, any Millionaire out there, or Billionaire, Trillionaire for that matter, may donate to me if they so wish any amount of money and I will surely take it, so, don't be shy... here I am with "Open Arms" and empty pockets.

65% Tax Bracket? And... You Make How Much?

Here's another Zillioinare complaining about paying 60% or more in TAXES!  

Look people, I understand we all want more than we can actually achieve and if we actually do achieve more than we thought were possible, through the grace of those who we know throughout our life, those providing opportunities to us, as some are blessed to have known or run in the same circles as others who have the knowledge and or position to further those who they so choose in their careers or social status!  

While those who are not as fortunate to have had these very same opportunities, which we have been granted to the chosen ones by God, and/or have simply not come across these opportunities in their lifetimes, either by dumb luck e.g. "Being in the right place at the right time", or having the knowledge and/or skill of parting individuals from their money!  (Take a lesson from Government, they have mastered this art-form!)

Or... maybe you had seed money left to you from generations of relatives gone by... or just plain had a friend in a high place!  I understand your greed!  Once you have it all, you always want more!  You never want to drop down in social classes, always climbing the ladder upward.  

I also understand we all want to elude paying more than the next guy in taxes! However, when you say you pay 60% or more in taxes end of year, and you are bringing in $1 Million or more!  Then... is it really fair to complain about clearing nearly $350,000!?

EXACTLY HOW MUCH MONEY DO YOU NEED? So many out there are surviving on less than $15,000 a year!!! Barely surviving! Many have $0!  And I can see no way to survive on anything less than $50,000 a year personally!  And this is considered lower class in America.  So, you really want to moan and groan because you walked away with $350,000 this year?  Really???  I truly can't feel bad for you!  I See your point, I simply can not feel your pain! 

Believe me, I do see your point!  I understand your point is "IT'S YOUR MONEY" and... "YOU EARNED IT FREE AND CLEAR"! However, I can not understand how you are NOT SATISFIED with $350,000! YOU DO UNDERSTAND YOU CAN'T TAKE IT WITH YOU DON'T YOU?!  Either way you look at it, our Government is going to get your money!  Go ahead and buy properties, they take taxes on your income generated by income property, they takes taxes from the real estate which you own free and clear, they tax you when you re-sell the property and if you decide to leave ANYTHING to your children, I am quite sure they will find a way to TAX THEM!  Even with the most cleaver and financially creative mind, they (The Government) will get your money eventually.  It's just the way it works folks, you earn it, they confiscate it through taxation.  Without a free ride on our Tax Dollars, there would not be a Government, State or Civilization as we know it.

Hopefully we eventually figure out a way to re-gain control over Government, and proper disbursement of the funds taken from us through taxation.  It would be a better world if those who were "governing" our tax dollars were doing so with pure hearts, that the funds would be surely placed toward the greater good! Homeless & those less fortunate.  Maybe next lifetime we will get it right.

"Richard Peacock... This what you have been doing wrong all along you freaking idiot why didn't you think to simply ask for One Million US Dollars in the first place???  You would have been a billionaire by now!!!!"  And, YES, the article named me specifically!

As I started out searching for abandoned real estate information, I ran across a Forbes Article about a millionaire in NY, who was generous enough to grant a million to a fellow New Yorker, and all he had to do was ask!!!!  It's that easy eh?  Okay here goes... I too could use a million dollars!  Would someone with an extra million or two please donate it to me Richard Peacock?  I am officially asking!  Furthermore, I promise I am a kind and honest person, who would do nothing but good with a million dollars!  And as an added bonus, I would be your devoted friend for LIFE!

God bless who ever you are!  I know you, who are about to post a comment for me below herein, informing me that you saw my plea here on this BLOG and are going to grant me this one simple wish!  Maybe you have a few extra million or billion that you keep stumbling over and don't know where to place it?  Or... your simply tired of paying high taxes and would like to knock yourself down a bracket or two to avoid the new tax brackets, by donating a sum of money to a worthy individual???... Capitalization Rate?

The Capitalization Rate, how does it apply to me, you ask?...
Unless you own commercial real estate that is generating an income, then, it does not.

I have been spending the better part of the morning searching through a pile of real estate DVD's and CD's from Allied Schools , which I purchased second hand on eBay.  And, I finally found the tool with all the answers which I was searching for!  As I have already taken the required three (3) online courses, which now qualify me to take the California Real Estate Exam and obtain a Real Estate Sales Person License, I was hoping to find the perfect cram DVD or testing information.  By the way, Real Estate Principals & Real Estate Practice are both mandatory, however, they give you a choice of a of the third class which you select from an array of Real Estate based subjects.  I choose property management as my third elected class.  I passed all the required classes and have since then, been qualified to take the California Real Estate Sales Person State Exam, which you can find at the California Department of Real Estate and I have to tell you, I do NOT understand how most Real Estate Agents obtain their state licenses!

You have heard the saying "it's not rocket science"???  Guess what?  It is!  This is not easy stuff boys and girls.  I was compelled to share the following brain teaser with you.  Now I know that there are going to be a lot of investors, bankers & brokers who stumble upon this article and just chuckle, thinking all the while to themselves "What an idiot".  So if you are a natural born investment banker... or Rocket Scientist... keep on moving... there's nothing to see here!  Nothing you haven't seen before Einstein!  Okay, now that we thinned out the room, I have a real treat in store for the rest of you!  A real snorefest!

Capitalization Rate, what is this thing everyone seems to be talking about these days?  This magnificent, glorious play on words you ask?  Well... I am going to tell you anyway...

 The Capitalization Rate is the rate percentage calculated out by using the net operating income that a commercial property generates (rent) or (generated income) divided by the actual price which was paid for the real estate, this will give you a number which is called the cap rate or capitalization rate (percentage).

This is the percentage that property managers and commercial real estate agents use to assist them in determining the fair market value of a commercial property.  Any Alberts or Georges still with me that find my statement to be somewhat inaccurate, or complete rubbish, please leave a comment below or forever hold your peace.

So, say you collect rent(s) from a commercial property that averages around $4500 monthly, you would multiply this amount by 12 months and if your good... come up with = $54,000.  And say you paid $1.3M for the property which you purchased just over a year ago.  You would take the $54,000 and then divide that by $1.3M, and if your a property manager or commercial real estate broker you will hopefully come up with .04% or 4% cap rate, which is just a little shy of realizing, that you definitely made a huge mistake in your calculations when you purchased that property!  If your an artist, actor or a writer, you will probably be okay with your investment.

(tip: it doesn't matter when you purchased the property, what does matter is what you paid for it when you did, and how much you can rent it for or more specifically... what you are renting/leasing it for)

Now that we understand one another, you now know that you should have purchased that very same property for somewhere around $500,000... to make a 10% cap rate.  However, you probably will NEVER locate this property!   Because it is the property that all investors are searching for.  However, given, you have very low fixed and variable costs and live in Hollywood, CA.  JK!  (jesting)... you may come to the conclusion that the yearly percentage returned on your investment isn't too bad, as it's yearly generated income is nearly 4% of the asset's total cost, and you should recoup your investment with low operating costs and taxes, within the next lifetime!  Great new huh!  If I've lost you, don't feel bad, I checked out at Capitalization Rate, and this guy gives a much better understanding of "Why Good Cap Rates Mean Great Profits in Real Estate".

Ok... one more interesting bit of information for you, if you have this kind of time or you simply have to make the time to read the recent BOE California Board of Equalization California Property Tax Capitalization Rate Study, you can find it herein, or here's a thought, just for fun... next time your bored  try doing your own taxes that always gets my juices flowing.  GOOD STUFF HERE EH!?

Question: What prompted me to write Symbols of Love?  

Answer: This book is a collection of my art... it's an expression of viewpoints and self expression. 

Question: How did I begin my love affair with writing and at what age?  

Answer: I have had a love for writing at a very young age, when I was very young, I believe around age 7, possibly earlier, I remember awaking from a dream and with it still very vivid in my mind, my mother would encourage me to put it all down on paper.  My mother, also a writer (http://www.lulu.com/peacockcarol) would talk of submitting our writings to the Reader's Digest for possible publication.  So, as you can see writing has been a loved past time, instilled within me and has now become a necessary fiber of my existence.  

Question: What are some of the subjects within this book and which piece am I most proud of?  

Answer: The book touches on many if not all of life's subjects, it is a deep glimpse at my innermost thoughts and views of the world in general.  The poem or piece which I am most pleased with is one which is very simple, pure and to the point... "Twisting & Turning" has always been the poem which has moved me the most.  I have others, such as "Fracture" and "Whispers", and there are many which hold a special place within my heart, however, it's a feeling I would equate as to having a favorite child or a first born.  Very similar to the love I hold for one of the first songs which I wrote called "Don't Take Your Love Away", which is also included within the book.

Question: What makes Symbols of Love unique for other poetry books or lyrics & why should anyone invest in this book?  

Answer: I wrote Symbols of Love with careful and precise articulation, every word chosen is a word which I have deliberated over very carefully prior to it's placement.  I wanted to ensure an honest conveyance of the feelings and emotion which I have experienced within my own life experiences and the accurate description of such.  Symbols of Love isn't run on, waiting for a witty rhyme that never veers it's face, it isn't a gathering of words, simply for the sake of something to print.  And it is definitely NOT the "norm" for poetic expression.  The entire book is an artistic expression of my life, I am extremely proud of it and would love for everyone to enjoy what I have created!  I promise it's worth the money!  As I have said in the past, if you don't enjoy the book... I will refund your time.

9/25/2012: I visited State Street this morning to walk down the strip and check out the shops there for a potential location for our thrift store.  I pulled into a parking space and heard a man screaming at someone, look around and see the man who appeared to be homeless as he was sitting on the sidewalk bench with a few shirts, backpack, two solo cups full of some kind of liquid and a can of foot powder.  He was screaming at everyone who passed by on sidewalks, even those on the other side of the street, as I walked by, I hear "Oh sure, you can't hear me, I'm not here". Or something to that effect.

I decided to interact with the man who was almost begging to be committed, and long story short made a new friend today. Ron Evans has been homeless for 2 years now, his wife died two years ago and he lost his business and his desire to fit in this rat race. I have been trying to find a purpose for Symbols of Love Organization's nonprofit thrift store, and today I found the exact thing that broke my heart enough to make me want to commit it completely toward. At the end of it all, I was able to get both of Ron's brothers phone numbers and called them up, apparently they both know exactly where he is and are ok with it.

I can't imagine being at peace with your loved one on the street. So I gave Ron what I had on me $28 and my Rayban sunglasses, it's simply not enough!!!

Ron said I saved his life today and that will last him an entire week! It breaks my heart to see this man homeless and drunk on a bench, in a sad attempt to cope with the pain of life and his rotten teeth, which he pointed out several times to me. I'll finish this up on in a blog latter... I simply wanted to share most of my morning with you. How far does this go before we stop and treat this homeless disease with the respect it commands and deserves? These are people, not animals. Everyone looses their mind living on the streets. Everyone.

A letter to President Obama... I never even scratched the surface with this one!

Below is a letter I felt compelled to send this afternoon regarding the recent embassy issues and killing of our Americans at our embassy in Libya, I urge EVERYONE to please write to the White House directly regarding this issue and let them know exactly what you as an American would like to see done as a retaliation for these crimes done to US!  http://www.whitehouse.gov/contact/submit-questions-and-comments 


Good afternoon Mr. President,

In case you haven't any idea how disturbed and moved the American people are with the lack of action here and now, pertaining to the recent deaths of our Americans in Libya, and the continued disrespect by Libyan & Egyptian people in general for the US and our citizens.   We the people are at a loss for the appropriate wording, as anything which is said is in genuine disgust and revolt by now.    We are all wondering why these individuals are being allowed to continue to burn and destroy, rape and parade our dead around taking photos of them in various disrespectful positions and posting the photos to their facebook profiles etc.!  Why are we not bombing the individuals in the streets at this time?  They are not there out of their love for peaceful protest!  And to blame words and or a badly done video as a direct result in their animalistic reactions is absolutely absurd!

Killing because they are simply hateful and getting away with it!?  Unthinkable and unacceptable.

Animals should be treated as such and it is obvious that the individuals being shown on news casts and by photographers photos from these countries are uncivilized animals!  Please Mr. President, take action now, before it is too late to save face in the midst of such crimes against America.  These people are dying for absolutely NO REASON!  It is not for a country!!!  It is simply for the sake of death.  They did not give their lives for their country!  Their lives were taken by another country, all while their country stood by and watched!  Americans as a whole do not wish to continue to support these third world countries, and in continued fund disbursement to these countries is definitely not of our free will.  These actions can not be justified, and for media to continue to broadcast this as something that was done as a result of a film?????  That excuse is absurd!  To think it acceptable to kill in the name of a film!  Or kill over words!  I never want to hear another apology to any country that kills an American Ambassador or otherwise.

Two:   I understand why you are walking on verbal eggshells.

Because you, Mr. President are afraid of sending strong condemnation of these acts and afraid that a definite announcement of retaliation would result in more lives lost and further destruction and ultimately more war.

News flash, they have attacked us again!  On 9/11!  It only gets worse as you allow this sort of behavior!!!

Why Nonprofit is Big Business in a Failing Economy

Nonprofits are becoming the majority.  More predominately now, than ever before.  The reason you ask?  Well we have to start at the beginning of the entire economic meltdown to obtain that answer.  In a failing economy cash is king, many businesses which have failed have done so because of the lack of cash flow and a failing economy is a direct result of cash hoarding.

The current economic situation is very similar a stock market meltdown; the shareholder (consumer) looses faith in the stock (services & products which businesses sell).  The investor (consumer) at which time, sells the stock which they are invested in, off at market.   If the investor then begins to fear the entire market may be flawed, the investor becomes opposed to the idea of re-investment.  Thus, driving the stock further into the ground, as a chain effect starts to take place as a direct result of the investor becoming poisoned by fear.

The investor (consumer) sells the stock (service and/or products which business have to sell), the stock at which time drops in value (cash flow recedes) as other investors now begin to  “lost faith” in this particular stock (unwanted product and/or service) and begin to sell off their shares as well.  As fear continues to prevail and spreads like an epidemic, affecting many of the other stocks (products/services) which reside on the market (economy).  The media assists in the administering (broadcasting) of this poisonous venom (bad news) as it continues to interject it into an already failing system (the economy).

Those who have “lost faith” in a particular stock (product/service) soon thereafter sell all shares within their possession (cease their purchase of services/products).  The stock market plummets to the ground (economy).  Businesses then begin to dry up; as they grasp at new ways to “cut expenses” they begin tightening up their purchases as well eliminating many of their office supplies and other unnecessary expenditures.  As these struggling businesses and now consumers alike, have eliminated the purchase of such products and/or services.  This in turn, affects the businesses, which were at one time were financially supported by the consumers purchase.  As the consumer has now deemed that particular service or product produced obsolete.

Businesses begin to cut back on payroll, which affects their employees’ paycheck amounts, and as a direct result of a “paycheck on a diet”, the employee then starts similar cutbacks within their daily lives and home product consumptions, creating a vicious domino effect, as they continue to cut their finances and or expenditures, other businesses feel it.  Eventually businesses begin layoffs as they attempt to offset their losses and ride out the recession, these businesses eventually begin to dry up (cash flow) and ultimately fold as the cash hoarding continues.

With many of the businesses that once succeeded in a “good economy” having now failed and become nonexistent, and former employees of such businesses now out of work, out of money and in many cases without the necessary funds to maintain food, clothing, shelter & health care.  What type of business would be desperately needed at this point?  And if the consumer can’t consume what type of business would be needed?  That’s right, assistance programs (nonprofit)!  You get an “A”!

Nonprofit is the business model that is the obvious choice.  In desperate times, with so many having lost their home, their income, and don’t know where the next meal will come from?  The only correct answer is nonprofit.  Nonprofit is necessary to rebuild a failing economic system.  When the system is weak it relies heavily on nonprofit, when it is strong it relies on job growth and massive consumer consumption.  Without either there must be something to fill the gap.  Nonprofit… it’s old business that’s new again for 2013.
