Healthcare... the Un-American way?

I don't understand why everyone thinks socialized medicine is a bad idea? Republicans and Democrats alike have been chasing each other's tails over this subject for a while now. Look, I come from a long line of Republicans, however, I am a free thinker and really never choose one side ever! No one really knows what is about to happen here with this bill, period! All we have are the "what ifs"! What if the government takes over our health care system, what if they tell me what procedures I can or can not have? What if they penalize me for not having health care? And everyone else is screaming mad about health care for everyone! Do you have any idea why? There are no real concrete answers at this point! Are you going to be one of those people who have none of the facts whatsoever on this bill and just because the "Government" tells you it's bad! It won't work! And it is Un-American! from where I stand that is not such a bad thing! Go ahead get in line! Sheep! Of course they are against it! Someone up on capitol hill will probably have their salary cut to pay for some of it! Someone in the White House will have to pay a little more in their taxes! All the mega rich will have to help out the poor a bit by paying more tax toward the health care system! Come on, do you or anyone else you know make more than $200,000 a year? I think you'll be okay then! The guy with the most money when he dies wins right? Wrong! You can't take it with you! Let's get real people! They have been doing it this way in the UK! Ireland! Switzerland! Canada! And most of the other great countries in the world. And let me tell you, if you look at the happiest and healthiest people in the world they definitely do not live HERE in the US! They are actually from countries where the Government pays for their education, pays for their health care! Countries where the Government pays them to take LONG vacations! And they work probably about half as much as we do here in the US of A! And! They are not sending their troops to countries to fight wars that are truly about nothing more than the manipulation of where we stand on the OIL barrel! Health care for all US citizens to me seems like the least of our worries! I mean come on, how can you truly think that our health care system will get worse by being regulated by Government? Its like this, say you have a company that corners the market on a product and there is NO competition what so ever! And that company/manufacture can basically do what every they want! They can name their price and without any regulation and or competition well, it seems to me they have a great monopoly going there! And when it comes to monetary gain at an others health expense, that is just too much like taking advantage of ones misfortune in the worst way! When a health care provider can decide if your heart gets replaced, or if you get insurance at all, then... Damn! I could go on for EVER here...
